We have been working alongside local partner organisations to deliver humanitarian aid and psychosocial support in eastern Ukraine since 2014. Following Russia’s full-scale invasion we have intensified our efforts to protect the civilian population. We provide support to people affected by Russian aggression in a rapid, straightforward and sustainable way.
Children along the front line are particularly affected by the consequences of Russia’s war of aggression. Many of them live in challenging conditions and have experienced fear and insecurity as a result of the ongoing fighting. In the midst of this everyday life, the Christmas presents are intended as a sign of hope and solidarity.
The SUNRISE Centre will become a rehabilitation centre for particularly affected groups, including people with disabilities, veterans, journalists, and human rights defenders. Our goal is to create a protected space for recovery and trauma recovery.
Russia’s targeted attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure are causing massive power outages of up to 10 hours a day. Together with AoS, we are helping people get through the winter warm and safe.
Together with X-Traverse, the mobile clinic brings medical care to remote villages around Kupjansk, where people have no access to health services due to the destroyed infrastructure.
The war deprives many children in Ukraine of the chance of a carefree childhood. In an underground children’s centre in Saltivka, one of the most damaged districts of Kharkiv, we support a safe space for playing, learning and being together.
In many liberated areas of Ukraine, people lack the essentials to feed themselves. By distributing seeds, we enable them to grow fresh and healthy food – an important step back towards self-sufficiency.
Since the start of the invasion, over 1.4 million homes have been destroyed or damaged, leaving people homeless. With Repair Together, we are helping with reconstruction to enable families to return to their homes.
We are strengthening care facilities in Ukraine to provide a safe home for elderly people who need care. Expanding capacities and ensuring heat supply sustainably improve their living conditions.
Together with Aid46, we are offering emergency medical training in Kharkiv. The courses teach civilians and first responders life-saving measures for treating injuries quickly and safely after shelling.
